There was a big white dog half way in the driveway last night when we got home. Anatolians were going nuts. Looks like maybe someone dumped their Pyrenees mix so the nice sheep owner can give it a home. This county is notorious for dog dumpers. I think people from surrounding counties come here to dump dogs. Just what I DON’T need.

Anatolians also HATE the visiting dogs, Taco, a miniature weiner dog and Pepper, a blue Merle half Blue Heeler Aussie mix. All of Buford’s protection instincts are rising to the stratosphere. Stray dog, intruders in the front yard, this ought to be an interesting week. Sheba is in full protection mode also. Lambs raise their instincts to higher levels.

I’m getting a glimmer of hell week.

Mean ol’ Mamaw put the visitors back in their crate while I finish my coffee. Taco reminds me of @peteyfoozer ’s Fen. He whines, makes pitiful noises, never shuts up and gets into everything. They are only allowed in the front yard, absolutely no sashsaying around the farm.

Carson is positive that I don’t love him anymore and lays his big head in my lap so I can pet him and reassure him. He even brings me his favorite toy, it’s under his head.

Not to sound mean... but maybe it is time for your DD and DSIL to consider that the dogs would be better in a "doggy day camp boarding place ".... for when they are going away. Yes, they cost money... BUT..... the dogs get attention, time to romp in pens, etc.... There are a couple places here that some friends said they are amazing and their dogs like to go to.
Asking you to take them and subject your dogs to the invasion is not fair, to you or your dogs. I would never take on someone elses' dogs at my place when I had my german shepherd... and she got along with everyone if I said it was okay.... Your granddaughter's also cannot enjoy your dogs, Carson especially, and they cannot enjoy the kids in the same way. Especially with the new lambs to "take care of", your LGD's are being challenged by having strange dogs there. Example of the stray in the yard that you did not bring... then you bring in others to literally INVADE your dog's home and property and expect them to just accept. You have said yourself they do not like it, and they would probably kill them if they had a chance because they do not belong there.

I could not imagine taking my dog with me to someone else's house to visit, considering that their dogs have a purpose other than being a "pet". Guess I grew up differently. I did not take my dog when I went visiting anyone, And never would I think that someone should have to deal with my dog just coming right on in to their house with me. I didn't take my dog to my son's house, and if he had his with him, they stayed in the truck. I never took my dog to my parents house when I was younger... when they had a dog already there. There were times that I did because the dogs had gotten acquainted on "neutral turf", and got along well... but it was something that had gotten worked out ahead of time and if there was even a hint of a problem, the "intruder" went back in the truck to wait on me.

Plus the grands would be thrilled to go home to see their pets again... and you and your dogs would get their undivided attention while they are visiting YOU and YOUR DOGS' HOME....

Dogs travel with family. I don’t take mine, but then I’ve got better sense. My front yard is fenced both for this reason and for Carson. Carson deals pretty good with it, and the intruders will have their play time, be cared for and closely monitored. In times past they have hired someone to come to their house to care for the dogs when they are gone. Eh.

That is what we always did... had someone come to the house to do the "daily chores" and the dog(s) stayed at home. Most are more comfortable with being in their own familiar situation.
I realize you have things situated very well to handle the dogs at your place and in no way was implying they do not get time to play and all that... Just that it is an intrusion into your own dogs' "kingdom"....
Bless your heart for taking the whole kit and kaboodle...
Hope DD and DSIL have a great vacation... and I know you will have a blast with the grands as always..
How's the oldest doing? I think she is already in college, being such a prodigy? Hope she is doing well, but hope she is also still having some "teenage" time... hard to balance the two with her level of intelligence.
