[Mini Horses]

I'm no engineer BUT -- by all means, run water AND power to your barn!! Even if power comes from a separate pole, meter, box. Sometimes distance & terrain make that a necessity, as well as size of main electrical box in house. Buying an "in place" set up may make it a requirement.

Another thing when building it. Frame, then roof, then side half at a time, as $$ appears. You know the drill

Believe me, when I run water, I’ll run power too. It may take awhile to get there, $$$
I’m going to buy new metal for the roof, deck it with plywood so I can roll out radiant heat barrier, for the heat. As I tear down old sheds out back, I can save enough metal to help on $$ for the back and sides. The afternoon sun will hit the back, so I’ll deck it with plywood for radiant heat barrier too. Lots to do, money is popular and I’ll buy as I can until I get enough to do something with. Yep, I know the drill.

It's kinda fun reading about all the different things you do down south when it gets cold I understand u build different. Makes me smile. 0-20 out wear coat and long johns 20- 50 just a hoodie 50+ t shirt. Never ever have boiled water for animals. One order for a drop in water trough heater from TSC and your done. Dog we just swap out buckets frozen inside to thaw fresh out side. Frost proof water hydrants on house won't freeze. Also Frost proof barn hydrant out side in yard drains out. Have water all year even down to -20. Use hose every day just drain down hill and will be fine.

On to the pex pipe it has been around along time up here.

PEX A or PEX B it doesn't make difference when which one bursts first. I see the way of, why is my line freezing in the first place making any water line useless when it's frozen. Spend the extra funds on mitigating the problem instead of paying to live with the problem.
Out here I seen thousands of lines busted and wondered why, well they all went with building codes instead of logic. Seriously, how can Billings, MT say frost line is 36" when the map clearly shows at least 60 inches, I went to 72".

@Sequestered Ridge Ranch ; I'm with you on the "stupidity" with some of the "laws" when it comes to things like the frostline... When I was a kid growing up in Conn..., my dad worked for a company that did foundations, basements, gravel hauling, you name it. He specialized in the dragline and lake dredging but did alot of other stuff.. He was quick to tell people that they needed to go at least 6-12 inches deeper with water lines and all that... and many questioned that. Several years later I remember a very long and very cold spell, and water lines freezing... and the extra hours he put in working overtime for the company "fixing" and digging up lines and all that... That was back when it was copper and such... not any PEX or Flexible stuff... So I have always been of the "little overkill or over cautious" and you will not have trouble with it later on...

As for the "helping" others, that is probably some of the ingrained mentality of serving... but it also is a tribute to you being a decent "over and above" person...
Thank you for the service to this country that I am sure has left it's marks on you...

No more freeze! But now it’s Noah’s Flood! Ok maybe not that bad, but rain for next 3 days, prediction is 4 inches. Soggy, wet, water standing, sheep pens are mush. High winds and drizzle. Was 1 1/4” when I did chores this morning.
Power is off now. Bummer. Got list of things to do that require that wall plug to work. Or at the very least, better light than the small tac lights. Phooey.
