We bought two 50 pound Berkshire Gilts on March 13th. They ate 400lbs a month. We took them to the butcher shop last tuesday. The littlest gilt weighed 354lbs live. The bigger gilt weighed 398lbs live. 246lbs processed for the little gilt. 310lbs processed for big gilt. These pigs had really great genetics and the meat is unbeleivable. Even the butchers say it is the best pork they have ever ate. We are getting more next spring to raise for fat hogs. The meat quality is awesome. It has a red marble through out the meat. Well worth the money!!! These pigs orriginated from England.
