Hi there, I need the best option for keeping elk out of my chicken run.
My run is a fifth acre long by 25 feet wide, 7 feet tall. It's on a hill. What's best polythene? Hot wire? Pulse? I just want a line to keep the elk from coming close enough to jump in.
Thanks!

I'd do a single strand of electric about knee high to an elk and put it 5 ft out from your run fencing. They will inspect it with their noses first, as most deer do, and that will do the trick. You don't have to bait the line nor flag it...they will see it, inspect it, get bitten by it and that will do. We've kept deer out of our gardens for 50+ yrs with just that kind of fence. We are surrounded by thousands of acres of woodland and have had varying sizes of deer population in all those years and never once had one in the garden protected by the single strand. Keep it hot at all times.
