Thank you all.

Yes she did have her first round of CDT @Southern by choice her next was due the 28th. Maybe we didnt give it early enough?

This is extra sad because we lost our Dobie tuesday hubby had him 10yrs, watched him born etc. and this lamb was our house lamb since she was 2 days old. She is the one i had athread up about her broken leg, then she almost went blind, and she was such a fighter i was really hoping she would pull thru.

I'm so sorry you lost her. I just now saw this thread. I lost my Dobie four years ago and still can't talk about her without tearing up.

Every ewe should have a CDT booster 4-6 weeks before delivery. Every sheep should have a booster every year. They are easy to give and can be found in the refrigerated section of your local feed store.

Again I am SO sorry.

Thank you for the info. It has been a rough week here. I will have to look into all recommended vaccines for sheep/goats because i guess my vet knows even less then i thought and gave me a lot of wrong information. I was under the impression i only needed to give CDT to kids/lambs.

If the ewe didn't get the CDT 30 days before lambing then the lamb has no protection. In that case lamb should get it within first 3 days of life and again 1 month later.

You'd have to share the thread but if the lamb was going blind before did she have polio?

Thiamine deficiency can also cause an animal to go down ... and eventually can cause seizures.

Many things present similar symptoms in the earliest stages.

We just treated our goose for thiamine deficiency. We switched feeds 3 weeks earlier and that is how long it takes for it to show up in a goose. Glad @Goat Whisperer caught it... I was about to put the goose down. She called it and Goose is running around like normal.
