Boone’s search skills really are phenomenal. I found Randy’s new pair of gloves yesterday, took him in the bedroom and showed one to him. Shut the door and hid it in the cup holder on my walker, which is above his head. It took him awhile but he didn’t give up or get distracted. He searched so thoroughly I was amazed. He checked the tops of tables, the top of his crate, behind the couch. I was impressed.
Of course that same tenacity also can be a curse. He’s intent in seeing what we’re eating and begging like Fen. (Randy allows and reinforces it with Fen, unfortunately) I have resorted to using an e collar on him and it’s clearly very effective. Without it, he is an absolute PITA. But as soon as I put it on all I need to is press the vibrate and he’s a perfect, albeit disgruntled gentleman. It might be the answer to public access for us. I think I will take him with me on the 10th and see how he does. It’s so hard on him being left home alone. Even with me here he cries and howls when he sees Fen and Randy outside and he can’t go see them. He’s incredibly destructive when left alone. He ate my hoses, the gasline to the BBQ, the lawn tractor seat…yeah. He’s pretty much a menace.
His language skills are pretty impressive as well. He understands far more than you would expect and his verbal responses are still in doggo, but perfectly timed and appropriately expressed. He’s a little scary, really…

In Burns with Boone today. Went to the cafe, wondering how he was going to behave as it’s usually a problem. He. Was. Stellar! Nothing but positive feedback from both servers and customers. He got a burger patty out front as a reward. I’m so pleased with him, we’ve been working hard but training at home isn’t the same as going out in the real world. ❤️ gud boi Boone!!

A certain big doggo wanted to sneak his antler outside this morning at 2 am. I fell asleep in recliner because of my back and woke up to a loud clatter.
He had the antler and quickly dropped it to grab the door pull. Then of course the door closed when he reached down to pick it back up.
The third time it happened, he put his shoulders in the door, blocking it open while he reached down under his chest and grabbed the antler.
I guess it’s an outside activity now…
