I had to put down one of my rabbits today. I knew she had a blockage and I decided she could not continue on in so much obvious pain.

So I did the necropsy to find out what happened for sure, and found several inches of her intestine were distended and apparantly blocked. I cut it out, and it seems to be a huge clot of blood. Has anyone experienced that before? How does such a thing happen? There didn't seem to be any injury, and there was no fresh blood pooled anywhere. Thoughts appreciated.

Hmm.. im not so sure :hu . What did you feed your rabbit? I heared that some wood like pine, redwood, and cherry tree can be bad for your rabbit. Someone also told me that lettuce can lead to a gas build-up causing enteritis and sudden death.

She had only eaten normal things that I feed all the time. Pellets, Timothy hay, and a small amount of veggies like carrot tops. Same thing she's always eaten and that the others eat. No answers there, I don't think. bummer.
