i have been thinking about breeding my new angora does this fall...
first i was thinking of breeding one doe to a pygmy buck and selling the pygora kids...
then i was thinking alot about the fragility of the angoras as a breed compared to the dairy and meat breeds... so does anyone know/heard/read anything about breeding angoras to other breeds to increase um.... stamina? hardiness? you know what i mean...?
anyone ever thought about this?
i'm trying to think of how the kids would be....

I guess you would also have to think about being able to sell them. You got the angoras for wool. Other people may not want to have to shear them but then someone wanting the wool will not be happy with a mix.

G'day OGG,What are your ultimate breding objectives?...If you are happy to just harvest the fibre from your does, why not put them to a boer buck?...You will increase the value of the carcase quite a lot from a straight Angora, bit it would mean 100% of the "drop" would be eaten......................T.O.R...............

Hybred vigor is a well known thing.

I agree though, look at your market. Pygoras and Nigoras are popular because of the size and cute factor, but fiber isn't the same quality as a PB and varies greatly with the F1 cross.
