See my other post for reasons why we moved a Large Black mum pig and 6 piglets only hours old - anyway she wouldn't settle and not interested in the piglets treading on them and knocking them away - it was just not going to work out.
A scoop of ground oats and barley mixed with a can of beer and down she went all chilled out - we scrached her belly and got all 6 piglets feeding. Her motherly instincts kicked in and all is now good
Its an old trick someone told me and it works :D :D

You dont knock out a 700 lb pig with one can of beer but it does calm her down enough to get the little guys fed instead of squashed. :th

Something I never knew. Beer to calm a mother pig. Truly glad it worked so that those sweet little piglets can get the nourishment they need from Mom. :)

It's an old trick that certainly works well. Just be sure it's "lite" beer, or they will get too fat!
She had just the one can as her motherly instincts kicked in - she's a very good mum now so I can have the rest of the beer
