Any new developments with the old truck?
Not a word :\

BUT I did find a site called Peddle & I entered what I could remember & got an offer of $310 for 200000+ miles, doesn't start, some body damage & a flat tire. Planning to see if jumper cables to my car will get enough juice to see the actual miles, pump up the tire & to put the battery on a charger over the weekend - then submit another offer with the exact mileage (less than 200000... I THINK) and possibly able to start & roll... will get a bigger offer and will JUMP ON IT!

It took almost a month & re-ordering 3x to get all 3 items from Tractor Supply, but I've finally got the Bovi Back Rub up!
Much to my surprise, there is no odor. It IS oily, as expected. Everyone said it smelled like diesel or a very strong pesticide. Even sniffing the jug I can't detect anything. It's under the overhang behind the barn where the girls have to pass under it to get into the stalls & to the feeders - & where it won't be likely to get rained on too bad.
Eva had seen one before back when my friend was boarding his cows here (& that one DID STINK 🤢!!!) but it took quite a bit of reassuring to get Blossom near it.
Both girls go under it without hesitating now. Both are shiny & not a fly to be seen - down to their bellies & lower legs. Ticks are still an issue underneath.... Eva was asking for scratches & I found and picked several from the inside of her back legs.
After thinking about it... I will take one of the dangling strips off & use it as a wipe tomorrow. 👍🏻

Holy cow....is that the "baby" standing there??? She's half grown! 🥰. They're both well rounded!!
Yep, that's Blossom licking the rub.
7 months old & she's grown into a VERY sweet girl.
Honestly I'm already struggling with the idea of sending this one to the processor....

My demons are back. 🥺
Got ANOTHER call this AM from Dad. A grumpy 'neighbor' from behind my property was on his porch saying that my cow was in his yard. He described it as a brown cow that looked pregnant.... ? Eva CAN look brown-ish when the sun hits her right... But I wouldn't think anyone would describe her as a brown cow...
Anyway - Dad drove up and shook some feed. Blossom was in the main pasture. Eva came running from the far edge of the back field - INSIDE the fence.. but it IS the fence that backs up to this guy's property. He locked them in the barn. I clocked out for a 9AM 'lunch' and rushed home. There was a LARGE section of fence down in that field that backs up to the grumpy guy's land... but it was the section closest to the barn. All 3 lines near his land were up and secure.. and it was from that secure section that Eva had come running. And the lines that were torn loose were drug INSIDE the pasture, not out into the woods.
While I was repairing the fence, I asked Dad to drive over and see if there might be a brown cow still in grumpy guy's yard...? No sign of it.
I'm trying to visualize how Eva tore down 30'+ of fence near the barn, then wandered through the woods a good 100yards or more, crossed the woven wire fence that surrounds the neighbor's property (yes, rusted and squashed kinda low in places), crossed all of HIS woods and entered his fenced yard via the driveway. THEN did all that in reverse, entered her pasture - dragging the 3 lines of wire to the inside side - and got to the back corner where Dad saw her; in the time it took the neighbor to drive over and tell Dad there was a cow in his yard.

As I was getting ready to rush back to work, Dad started in with the "I know you love them and all but is it really worth all this hassle & work? Maybe they'd be better off somewhere else. I know you'd hate to see them go but maybe you should think about selling them?"
And the little demon voice in the back of my head started up agreeing with him and giving me alllll kind of other reasons why I need to get rid of them....
I cried alll the way back to work. Maybe they're right...

Maybe you just need me to come help you fix your fence? :hugs there are days I've had more goats out than in. It's discouraging but, I persist. I'd ride over to his Rd and see if there "might" be another cow around. Just to feel more assured as to whether it was Eva. Of course, we hope there's another!!

Let me say this, sometimes. -- even on those bad days -- my animals are what keep me "going". In more ways than one, sometimes 😖🤫😳🥴🤣🥰

First - ~maybe it wasn't your cow.
If your neighbor wasn't a grump it would have been different. I'm not sayin' fight back - but rather why let him win?
When things are tough we all think - just get rid of it all - you're not alone. Persevere. You can do it. Work on getting the fences fixed if that is the problem. Improve on them a little at a time as you can. If it's not one thing, there will be another - that's just the way it is. Cherish the easy days because that's what we all live for.
:hugs
