Just got home from seeing Howel's Moving Castle in the theater. I've loved this movie for years & it was a unique experience to hear it in it's original Japanese.

LOL!!! That's a tad bit unsettling.

Should've gone to the bathroom at the 3am break... but didn't. 4:00 & gotta go! Called the new supervisor up to watch the Beamer.... and found out he's not even fully certified in the creel yet.
Seriously??? I'm the highest trained person in the building???!!!
Not the most experienced!! My other 2 team mates have 9yrs between them. But.... I'm REALLY the only person here who can run the Beamer?
Ya know those memes that say something like 'In my defense, I was left unsupervised... what did you expect?'
😂🤣

Off Mon & Tues. Planned to start the garden. Slept most of Mon while it rained. Rained all night. Standing water all over the yard & still raining off & on Tues AM.
Giving up & going out with a friend for some retail therapy & lunch.
Will be off again Fri-Sun. Weather is supposed to be sunny. Will pickup my little tiller from my sister's, figure out the placement of the beds, get the cardboard down - the boards up - and maybe start hauling poop-soup from around the hay feeder. 🤢

Had a great day. Cracker Barrel for lunch, thrifting - got a great pair of brand new (no tread wear) boots for $8 & several big comfy loose sweaters - and to Hobby Loby for a 100 count of markers to use in my new journal.
Then I stopped to check the mail & all my journal supplies had arrived. Weeeeeee 🤗! Can't wait to set it up.
Then..... stopped on the bridge to see how the creek is doing. It was scary high. About a foot from filling the GIGANTIC culvert. A tree had fallen on the down steam side about 6' to 8' along. It's been down a while but since it was several feet above the creek I wasn't terribly concerned. Well, enough small branches eventually snagged... and then leaves got caught in the branches... then mud in the leaves.... And what resulted is a pool formed from the culvert to the snag that has turned into a very effective 4' - 5' high dam!!!!
I decided to see up close what needed to be done to clear it & crawled through the brush & briers to get to the water's edge. I thought that I might be able to shift a little bit while I was there so I tried jumping on the downed tree & tugging on any branches I could reach. 🙄 Of course, one of the branches snapped and I landed hard on my butt & back in the mud. Nothing to lose now... I stepped right up to the edge & started scraping handfuls of leaves, mud, & twigs out. The more progress I made, the further I reached. Balancing on the tree, I could reach almost 1/2 way across...... until I lost my balance 😱
I managed to NOT fall in face first but just stepped off into the creek...... which is usually about 4" deep but the spillway over the makeshift dam has apparently carved out a deep basin & I ended up staggering & finally standing in water almost up to my hips. So much for trying to not get my sneakers wet.
The hole must be deeper because I was standing on a springy mat of branches. A little shook at the idea that I COULD'VE ended up snagged or worse in that deep water, I decided that since i had dropped the water level at the bridge by about 3', that was enough for today. I moved 1 of the pieces of cardboard to the front seat so I don't soak the car with creek water/mud & came on home.

Laundry, coffee, ibuprofen & a solanpas patch for my back & I'm going to spend the rest of the day playing with my new journal.
