Why did yo put down cardboard on top of the grass before adding the soil and manure? That amount of soil and manure will kill the grass, but having that grass mat underneath your garden might restrict growth. And if you go to spade it up you willhit the roots of the grass mat and find it harder to dig.

The worms and other insects destroy cardboard in a few months here. It's probably similar where you live.

It will help with the grass, the cardboard will help smother it. The cardboard will soften with the rain and will decompose over the summer.

I came home yesterday morning to find my elderly cat Ella pacing the house & yowling such a terrible sound.... didn't even sound like a cat.
Her health has been declining.. physically & mentally.... expected at nearly 20yrs old.
That long drive to the vet was tough. I buried her next to a hydrangea.
Chaos has been going back & forth between laying next to her bed & doing that corn-cobbing thing on my hand/arm when I stop petting him.

I'm sorry. My last two cats both were in the 17-19 year old range.
