That really all depends on how productive a cow is and how strict or what the culling criteria is. There are many farms and ranches that can't afford to keep an old cow until she dies of old age, but there are some that can. Basically as long as a cow is able to produce a calf she's a keeper. I've heard of plenty of cattlemen keeping cows until they were "old enough to vote."rsf31tmp said:wow? I am shocked by that. How old to ranchers usually keep a cow going?
