I got it in my head to give all my sheep CD & T shots because none of them had ever had the shots.
Well, I apparently suck at it. All the black belly sheep are now limping on one hind leg.
The katahdins are fine though.
Now I am really rethinking giving the booster shot in a few weeks.
At first I thought it was hoof issues. But not all of them on a hind foot.
I think the black belly sheep were much more tense than the katahdins. Could that have made the reaction to the shots worse.
I know when I get a tetanus shot it hurts a bit afterword.

I recently gave my katahdin lambs covexin 8 and case bac - I gave the shots in their front right upper sholder, and now I realize that I should have given it closer to their neck area. It has been 2 weeks, and some of them are still limping. I have heard that the covexin 8 can cause abcesses, but I do not feel any local swelling in the area. This has me concerned as well. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Tomorrow I will check their hooves (just in case) and I may give them a dose of vineger. At the same time of the vaccinations, I trimmed their hooves and de-wormed them...Don't feel bad, I think I suck at it too! I am also re-thinking the booster shots.:/

I have given it much thought, and have decided to go ahead with the booster shots.
I am going to go sub q this time and see if that changes anything.

The bottle of vaccine I have in my fridge says to give sub Q to sheep and goats... We always give the sheep shots sub Q in the neck and have not had any reactions (knocking on wood)..
