A runnin W bull? If you're gonna go SG, they know em better than anyone.

Charlais? no. Charlais on a Santa? Heck no!
my 2 cents and believe me, I bit my tongue not to say more.
(I'm so mad about a Charlais bull right now I could eat bullets. more on that tomorrow......)

I'm so sorry I started this thread then wandered off for over a year. Of the two gert ladies AIed, only one took, and she had a very nice bullcalf this January. Little Ricky is 8 months old now, and a neighbor kid has agreed to show him in the open shows this winter.

Yeah, for some reason I had started down the Charolais road, but am now solidly back on gerts. I've sold the original two mamas, as I'm keeping Little Ricky, and I've gotten two more KR heiffers that I'll have AIed this fall. So much for expanding, but I figure quality over quantity for now.

Here is Little Ricky at 7 months next to a 12 month old crossbred freezer calf:

We used a Gert bull on our Angus cows and the crossbred calves grew like wild fire. Gerts are a wonderful breed for cross breeding with Hereford to produce "Motts" and also cross well with the black baldies to produce excellent feeder steers and replacement heifers. Gerts also cross well with Simmental cows. Good choice of breed!
