I use diluted bleech water to stetilize feeders, waterers, and nesting boxes. But I am a little concerned about using bleech on cages and stands. Will it interact with ammonia in urine and make poisonous gas?

I use bleach on cages in small amounts and have had no problems. I just make sure that I'm outside where it's well ventilated, and then I leave the cage in the sun to dry.

My cages are all connected to a flush clean system and cannot be moved outside.

I use diluted vinegar. Has worked great for me.

Thank you greebean. That sounds like a viable solution for me.

No problem :) I do half white vinegar, half water. I know others that use diluted vinegar too, but I'm not sure what ratio they use.
