Oh my gosh, dont get me started on men who think women dont know anything about parts or lumber, or anything "manly". Ran into one the other day when I went to the lumber yard to get the first load for the shelter we are building. I didnt like the 6x6x9 post that he put on my trailer, it was bowed and the end was split. So I was trying to be kind and said, I dont like the looks of that piece of wood. And he says to me, oh its fine, do you know anyone that knows about boards. I said, yeah, ME! He backed off and replaced that piece of wood really quick. Grrrr!

Kitty, do you cover this chopped corn? Normally doesnt it go into a silo to make silage? That is what my father use to do way back when.

We have two silos and by the time corn comes off they are both full of either hay or oats. Our corn goes on a pile. Yes, we will be covering it. Many here use bunkers. They are made of cement walls but, generally are like the setup we have. They do have three sides on them where we only have the two though. Some use a tube like bag to put up their feed too. Silos are not "the thing" that they used to be. They cost you in taxes and in many operations are not convient to feed out of. Our corn silage goes to the heifers so to use a silo would be very inconvient. With the pile DH goes with the loader tractor and scoops it up and then feeds it. No, I don't feed the big heifers. After doing it for 10 years DH informed me one day that I wasn't capable of doing it. It's all his!

That's nothing. The tractor had broken down and DH was taking it apart to fix it. In order for him to get to the part he would have had to tear a lot more off. With my smaller hands I could get at it and take it off. Then I went to get the new part. I walked into the implement dealer with the part wrapped up in a shop rag and in my left hand (it was a small part). Up to the parts counter and told the guy what I needed. He came back with the new style part. They had made changes to this model tractor mid way through. When I told him, no I need the old style one he insisted I needed the new style one. :he Now we bought the tractor at auction and hadn't gotten any parts from there for it yet, keep in mind. He kept arguing it with me until he decided to get the old style out to prove me wrong. By this time we had the attention of several customers and the other employees. :coolsun When he brought out the correct part and started in on how it was the wrong one I had the pleasure of saying, "Oh really, that part (pointing to the old style, looks just like this one." And I slammed the one in my hand up on the counter. He turned extremely red and looked like he wanted the ground to open up and swallow him! I NEVER went back there again!

He didn't know I had the part. I was holding it down at my side and with the counter he couldn't see it.
