Christmas Trees ok to feed to sheep?

DH read somewhere that it's ok to feed your now used up and almost crunchy Christmas tree to sheep. No flocking or tinsel, just tree.
So - is it ok?? What do you all think?

If it was sprayed with something to set the needles, I would not give it to my sheep. Practically all commercial lots are sprayed trees.

Think I'm ok - LOL the pile of needles on the floor - huge. Just walk by without touching it and it's like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree - raining needles.
