My dad was Navy...they lived on coffee -- strong, straight up. Back then, flavorings weren't even thought of. Milk & sugar were options, and that was rogue. Of course, it was a time when cheese & bologna only came in chunks, hand cut. Ice was in huge blocks no cute bags of chopped stuff. We are sooo spoiled now

My coffee has to have Hazelnut creamer and stevia cuz I am a tad wimpy…unless I am getting sick. Or I’m cold. Then it just gets brandy
My ex and I used to run an equestrian center at an elite resort community. The people were mostly Beverly Hills residents and we were just a babysitting service for their kids when they showed up on weekends and/or holidays. The execs gave us grief because they wanted to see “more business” from our amenities. We had no choice but to find a way to draw in the parents. (Mind you, I was a 19 yo rebel who had been independent for several years already)
I had the great idea of a Sunday morning “breakfast ride”, consisting of filling them up with coffee and brandy, a quick lesson on our lesson string, then I would guide them across the 26,000 acres to the Country Club where I babysat the horses while they were in the bar
It was booked full every weekend.

@peteyfoozer did you carry a lot of straps to tie them on the horses going back from the country club?

Beautiful outside but the light wind thru 30* temps makes it chill you. Out of wind, in the sun, it's like a spa. My goats are having a spa day!! Just relaxing.

No, but it made for a really interesting ride back. One morning we got the ladies snockered enough to forgo the trip and help us brand the roping calves we got so we could team rope during the week. They LOVED it!! The best part was looking up above the arena, and seeing a line of husbands and execs in suits looking down, white faced, at their wives rolling around with mud, blood and cow slop dripping from their coiffs. (We did the castrating as we thought better of teaching them that part), but they got to help flank, vaccinate and brand them, while another jogged around pushing them back down the alleyway after we let them up
