Temperatures have taken off upwards, snow melting and the main road has turned to a rally track of slush, mud and water. Our road up here still covered in snow, though the pig pond is filling up quick.
Pig or two got out, went to bird house and cleaned all the duck poop out for me. The electric fence is down and they wondered off while we weren't home, though not far. Almost as if we could have free range pigs, just get the 40 acres fenced in. Electric fence it up again according to the tester, they ate the ground wires that went from the controller to the rod then the wire that went to second rod. There is 3 rods for grounding here.

We were thinking the same thing
Once the schit freezes (literally) it sticks to the floor making it impossible to get the hay out so you just layer more hay on top. After a few months it gets pretty deep and takes a bit to clean out in the spring. Guess one less thing to do now, hope they enjoyed their duck poopcicles.

Oh man, manure and bedding freezing to the floor and becoming unshovelable brings back memories...not great memories, but definitely memories. Good job pigs-as long as no birds went missing.
I will admit the flock is looking a little thin. I think after about 30 something ducks it's not easy to count them all.
