Will get worse as tariffs threaten. Suppliers already increasing & shrinkflation. A majority of our grains import, so flours will get hit, also sugar. Naturally coffee, chocolate, most spices, fruits & a large part of our veggies. Slowly resupply those categories beforehand.

Many of us raise a garden and some livestock. So eggs, meat, milk, cheese, veg & fruits aren't a huge issue if you just think about it. :idunno And it's not just tariffs. Major weather systems have destroyed many fruit & nut groves and much farmland is unusable now. Production is down. Supply & demand inflate prices.

It's a time when city folks will be in dire straights with supermarket shopping but, we country bumpkins will still eat like usual. :old:celebrate Now is a great time for barter! Pal up with your neighbors & friends.
Don't forget all the poor chickens suffocated because one bird in the flock may have tested positive for AI. That's one reason egg prices are so high.

Interesting meme...

No one wanted to do Easter dinner, so I cooked some lamb necks, bone in, for lunch today. The recipe I used called for rosemary, didn't have any, used fresh oregano instead. It also called for wine and lemon juice, I substituted cooking sherry and lemonade.

But they still were delicious.
😋

I'm going to try boneless next time.

I was an exhibitor at the local Grange yesterday. We (us two County Fair gals) were invited to the Emergency Self Sufficient Preparedness Fair, to represent what we do in the Canning and Dehydrating portion of the Fair. Other attendees were S.A.R (search and rescue), Red Cross, CRESA (Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency), a cat rescue, an equine rescue, the gas company, our Clark County Utilities company, and more.

At this one, we had the opportunity to expand our presence with some more focus on prepping. (At the fair we cannot - the fair is for education). We had about 40 ppl come up to our display and speak with us.
Here I am and then the vid is what the Superintendent and I set up for attendees.

One of the reasons Canada has had high tariffs on dairy is that they wanted to encourage consumption of their own milk/dairy products.... and they pay their farmers VERY GOOD prices for their milk for that reason. Cannot fault them for that....
They also have done alot of trading in beef cattle, there are big finishing/feed lots and have taken alot of cattle from northern states to feed out... plus there are some areas that ship cattle over the border to finish here... trading off.... not saying it is equal or fair... but the dairy part I can see from their point in the past... Not exactly that different from US wanting to buy "American" now........

@murphysranch that was a really nice set up! I like the labels for attendees to have explanation. I see a full compliment of options for continual ready or emergencies.. 👍

@farmerjan you're right, Canada takes more interest in & care for their farmer set ups. Here, too much has been sold out. Big corps take over -- pros & cons for each side of thought.
