I truly don't understand what they thought it would accomplish. But there was some legitimate fear regarding the sheep processing plant in Denver. The numbers it does every day would be a hit to the industry without it.
There were a couple other ballot measures in Colorado that I think we could agree as a group were for the better that they didn't pass. Upsetting to see they made the ballot in the first place, but glad overall that they didn't pass.

I was thinking the ban on slaughter houses was/ is part of the "animals are people too" and the "we must all be vegan" movements.
