Five degrees below zero right now, high of 24°F we get a reprieve from the snow today, be back tomorrow. Up to my knees in some spots, top of my boots in other spots, varies based on drifting.
You know it’s cold when the ducks have “dropsies” run out the house to be fed and drop immediately in the snow, run a foot or two and repeat trying to get their feet up, it’s cute.

Second night in the low 20’s. Ram boys are potentially sold for Greek Orthodox shindig this weekend. Even sold the color. Just no buyers and they are causing too much trouble. No lambs for a week. Three on the way. Bad windstorm a day ago knocked out WiFi and ice and snow expected in a day. May get a chance to see the generator in action. Test fire was fine yesterday. Off to chores.

I. Would. Not. Dare. Make. This.Up.
Hubbs has been in hot pursuit of a ten point buck. Blind built. He’s spent days in it. Hubbs did Not grow up in a hunting family. Which is why he got a scope bite a month ago. At 64. That’s ok. So I’m driving down the driveway about 1/2 mile. There’s an old barn at the end where we store round bales. Out walks the buck with a mouthful of hay, a doe following. They disappear. I call Hubbs and say I saw your buck it was eating hay in the road barn. Swearing about sitting in an uncomfortable blind in the rain ensues. Personally I’m rooting for the buck if for no other reason I don’t want to gut the thing. I grew up in a hunting culture but critters got shot away from the house.

I don’t sit and wait, I’m coming for you when I’m hunting whatever. I don’t shoot hundreds of rounds sighting in a rifle, no scopes, no camo, no baiting, I’m tracking your arse down and will find you no matter the weather, terrain, or time of day. You will know when the bullet hits the bone.

Coffee is ready. Up at 4:30.
I haven’t hunted in years. I’m down to some 30-30’s and 22’s. I like a 22-250. I’m right handed, but with a rifle, I’m left handed. I’ve never shot a left handed rifle, just compensated with a right handed rifle. I learned that a Winchester that ejects out the top, the empty shell will hit me between the eyes. 😃😃 I should find a someone with a left handed rifle that would let me shoot it.
