Woke to 21, way better than the 10s all week and getting mid-upper 40s all week. Back to normal winter here. Nights flirt with freeze but, ain't real bad. It's sunny out, too. I'm thrilled!

Figuring there's 6-8 does to kid before too long. Then mostly "done". Might be a straggler after 🤷. Mostly I expect Feb to be end of kidding. The Boer are yr round breeders, so 2 more of those may be hold outs to March. Time to think weaning plans.

Enjoying coffee while kids bottles warming. So much easier with does feeding, not me. 😂 I swear, Trouble is gonna be a monster doe, big girl. Jumping right into hay & feed, too. Aggressive, herd queen type....hard headed. What a mess 😋what have I raised?

Yesterday was a beautiful day. I worked outside and will be outside again today. Then it rains or chance of rain all week
Yesterday was a "reward" day, lol. We made it through the deep freeze! Next week will be a rainy challenge here too - boo!

My kidding season...geeze! With everything going on with DH last year I've got does that are due between Feb all the way to maybe May. ARGH! Maybe it'll be easier? I dunno... Guess I'm going to find out.

My sheep are lambing from November to April. I had a straggler who evidently didn’t take and was flirting with the boys. I separated one out and put her with him. Thus the April date. A couple of late bloomers in March, most of the rest are in February. Lambing this year is as scattered as I am.

Cuppa#2 almost done. We're still predicted to get rain Sunday-Monday. Absolutely have to harrow arenas today. The ground in there is hard as rock right now and the run off would make it rut-city. Thought I was looking at fog through the valley, but nooo. It's smoke from the Border2 fire :( 6500 ac and 10% containment.

Went to bed late, struggling with a Gmail issue 🙄 until 1am or so, but I got up around 6. Last Saturday I bought freshly roasted coffee beans from a vendor at the farmers' market, so I tried them this morning. Pretty good.

I raised the shade cloth so the flock could enjoy the sunshine this afternoon.

And I puttered around the house, did more sorting, weeded out some of Ron's mugs that I won't ever use, and hung a motion sensor light in the hallway so we don't trip over one of the pets on the way to the necessary.

46 degrees this morning. A much politer temperature. No iced bunks. Good Boy Moses! Sophie has never truly given up on grabbing a lamb. It’s the product of her previous owner’s neglect and abuse. She will stalk lambs through the fence. Yesterday she was up to no good at feed time. She charged the fence and Moses charged her. Even if it was resource guarding (Imma eat that later, wench) I’ll take it. I’ve been working with him and the sheep since the Lamb Incident- yep he had a partially eaten one in custody- we have a ways to go and growing up to do, but we’ll get there.

Just a little thin ice on tubs this morn 👍. Last day of night freeze, for a week or so anyway. I'll take it! Plus 50s days all week. Loving that, too. 😍 One week at a time -- Feb can be tricky cold here, hope not this year. Garden starts are on my radar and cold is ok if above freeze mark. :fl

We're all hoping for better weather now. Winter has been too cold long enough! Everyone think "warm". May help, can't hurt 😊

We have another 6 weeks of winter here at least. Feb is always a crap shoot and we get some nasty weather in March too...
That said, it was down to 27 overnight. Up to 38 at 9:30... some sun but alot of clouds over the hill. Still will take the warmer temps. Snow and ice ought to melt off this week I hope.
