Been in upper 40's all week and the roads up here are still covered in ice/snow. High of 49°F today, going to drop to -3°F for highs tomorrow. Yep forecast says from now till mid February will be only up to 15°F for highs.
Got another foot of snow going to drop starting tonight till Monday morning. A plow on the front of the truck is looking nice right about now.

Warm here all day but tonight dropping to about 28. Figures. I have a doe in labor.

Watching evening news -- rare event -- but here 2 barn fires last night, both same road & reasonably close. 8 ish first, out quick, currently used only for storage hay & farm items. Next about 9:30 & well engulfed when seen. It housed approx 40 goats, none could be saved. Sad for everyone. Well loved Boer herd and kidding season! 😢 What a shame.

Now the kicker, officials feel not related 😵‍💫😳😠🤔

I've watched too many "who done it's" . This is real rural, both large barns, too close in both distance & time of events to not be majorly suspicious. Weather was fine, no lightening storms, etc. I'll watch investigation reports.

Meanwhile, the emotional toll (&financial) on the goats farm is huge. All named animals, handled, well bred, active sales, etc. 😔

Don't get me started with cameras. It has been so peaceful due to the weather here.

Came home one night and caught a gilt in standing heat, couldn't get her to cross into the pen with the boar, wouldn't budge I even tried riding it and slapping it on the arse to move. Wouldn't budge.
Next time I have temp poles set up to quickly run a few hot wires and let the boar out, let him do his business and chase him back over to his pen to close back up.

I got an idea, I can put a dog harness on the boar with a leash, let him go find one or two, do his business then drag him back over to his pen before he takes on the whole herd including the hogs, ducks, geese Pooch and any birds flying over.

GRRRRRR  - if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, it's a duck. To say they're not related this early in the game -- yeah right. Idiots. Hope they still investigate, with that attitude they may not.
