3:30 am 🙄 Up for a little while.
24 he's ago I was snuggled under multiple quilts with all 4 cats pressed against me. The house was that creepy-silent from no power & the wind was howling and I watched the trees rocking in bright moon light.
Tonight the house is warm, the cats have abandoned me & it's still and quiet outside under a thick, dark overcast sky.

@fuzzi , I have a few contacts in rescues. If you'd like, I can send out some queries for you? Have you considered a poodle or poodle mix? Immensely trainable & I know of a few that turned out to be decent herding/protection dogs.

@Mini Horses the forecasted snow amounts have been dropping all day. Here it started out saying 12" or more. Now it's down to 3-5". Either way, they all seem to agree that it's going to be very dry, powery snow.... so maybe not as damaging as the last batch?

Awake at 4ish, alarm going off in 10 minutes.

I'm awake probably because this storm is concerning me, ice is forecast. I'd rather deal with a foot of snow.

@canesisters I appreciate your suggestion. I'm not looking for a guardian dog, and never considered a poodle, but I am open to suggestions. The HOA attitude of the rescue I mentioned just floored me.

It's actually gotten pretty common for rescues to want to be very invasive in adopter's lives.
I see alot who require a letter from your vet stating that you are a responsible owner, letters from references, pre- adoption home inspections, unending unannounced post-adoption inspections, contracts saying that you'll return the animal to them if you can't keep it (which will get you blacklisted forever in all of their network). Some even want you to prove you have the financial means to keep the pet to THEIR standards.
Then there's shelters having "clear the shelter" days where they waive fees & adopt to just about anyone who will show up & take one.
🤷‍♀️

I've noticed that not just government entities but regular citizens are displaying overreach, being busybodies. There are plenty of "Karen" videos on the internet.

Go 'way, just leave me alone!

First light & first cuppa both done, heading into seconds 😋 out to feed next, then leave for work. Been cramming all I could into these days leading up to snow. I'll lose a couple of days being home & have huge assignments to work. Suspect I'll be working sat/sun -- anticipating main roads cleared 🤞🤷. Getting far stores -- through windy back roads! -- done first. They don't pay enough for eating a ditch from ice. Won't drive through it.

@canesisters I sure hope there won't be the deep snow they're scaring us with!! I won't like any of it but, can deal with 3-5" and complain!! 12"?? No!! That's a blizzard.

Actually praying the storm tracks just 50 miles NWward and I'll just get rain here!!

I would never adopt from a rescue with all those attachments. A county or city dog pound is much more reasonable.

Gotta go get pine shavings this morning and more meat chick feed.
Buford is guarding the hoop shelter in front field. I wonder if a ewe had babies in it last night…..
Going outside!
