Almost 7pm.... In from night feed. Wasn't any more fun than this morning BUT the goats walked in the snow to troughs. Grains are a huge enticement! I added a decent amount of pelleted forage (Alf/beet pulp/flax oil) to help for cold night. It's a small pellet, so not a choke factor, mixture for taste -- they like! Helps extend hay. Refilled water tubs, drained hose. Done until morn.

Another 6 egg day. My reward

Didn't walk to road but, looks pretty clear. I can see some pavement from porch👍 I'll check it in morn. If clear, I'll consider going to work. Only 1.5 mile off main & I'm sure that's been plowed clear. Have so many jobs to get done! Our busy season.

This real cold air up my nose gives me a dull headache.

I got my new business cards in so I had a little fun, went to all real estate agents before going to work that were open (3) of them and told them who I was and dropped 25 off at each place. Actually felt good to be late and was hoping they would say something to add to morning excitement. I even tagged a Jeep that got stuck in their driveway on the way in to town
Now have two business cards, one for wrenching, welding and everything related and other for rock work, running my heavy equipment and such.
Not going to push it too hard, time to start on the house this spring. Though if something opens up I'm grabbing it, more than I did last year this time of the year.

Checked on my chickens. One of the hens is being mean, three of the lower rank pullets and hens weren't being allowed on the roost. I pushed them over, made some slots, inserted birds on roost, then locked up. The snow is hard as pavement, only makes a slight crunching noise, no foot prints. It's about 20°. Brr.

Coffee is ready. It’s 26F, high of 39F. Tomorrow, 32F high of 50F, no more freezing temperatures and highs in the 70’s next week.

Baby meat chicks are warm and happy in their tub. I have to rig up the small coop this morning with heat lamps. A friend has 45ish 3 week old pullets she’s giving me. Her autistic grandson raises chickens for the fair every year and these are culls. They only show the cockerels. Im picking them up this afternoon. I’ll feed them out and butcher them, they will be 3 weeks ahead of the chicks I have now. I was planning on making chicken pan sausage for my son in law, now looks like he’ll get a LOT of pan sausage. I made a couple of pounds in January and he really liked it.

Hubbs is sick. I’m probably going to catch it so I’m rearranging chores accordingly. I haven’t been sick (lame- yes but not sick) since ‘22. Fortunately we have plenty of hay and eats. The cold snap is almost over and the place is in easy care mode.

Lots of vitamins and preemptive chicken soup for you.

I'm really OVER THIS WHITE STUFF!! 😡😡🥶🥶🤬

Chores take much longer. Everyone fully fed. What a mess out there...broke ice on tubs, some that haven't been used as not fav location. They're further from fav shed -- too bad. Go there! Hose is fine to refill, water lines good, darned faucet handle frozen. Not going to get hair dryer & back to thaw. There's water available and going to mid-upper 30s. Refill then.🥴🤷 I'm trudging snow, so can they.

Can you tell, I'm past annoyed with snow? :he
