This place puts that Bob Segar song (Against the wind) to more meaningfulness with winds ranging from 20 to 80 mph from March til April and October till Nov/Dec. Twenty miles north of the city is a wind farm expanding to be largest wind farm in the state.
Woke up to snow on the ground, but don't worry it will be 80°F come Thursday.

From what I have seen in my world travels is if a place doesn't have thermal mass besides the ground such as abundance of trees and plant life, the temperatures will fluctuate drastically.

We go from the 100's in the summer time for highs to the 60's at night, so on the not so excessive normal summer days we are in the 50's at night.

Today is March 23rd you just arrived in SE Montana, my advice if you aren't living in the city get ready for the winter. No not this winter, next winter that starts around October, trust me you are about a month behind already.

Ragged start but it'll be fine after another cup!

Yesterday my DS actually helped with some farm work. Replaced 2 of the big tin roof panels on barn👍 Been waiting for that to happen. Finally!! 3 more to go...old fiberglass ones brittle, new tin has been waiting. So, repairs & a pile of materials will be cleared up. If weather clears for a few days, the storm ravished run-in barn will be "rebuilt/remodeled". We've had too much wind and rain to consider moving slabs of roof still intact. Soon it will happen. Thankfully, not "needed" as other shelter is available. Fencing still sits, hopeful to be scheduled before long. 😋

Farm work is an "always more, always there" life style. Why am I even thinking otherwise?

@Baymule I broke the rules 😂. Brand new tin!!! Bought at auction, averaged $50 per panel vice $130 at retail -- lucked out! Been sitting all winter to use. Last month I popped for some new 2X6 treated lumber, glad I did. Will need for shed work. Of course, I'm collecting wood from a fence I'm replacing...to repair another 👍👍 and still have some used tin panels stockpiled. Gotta stretch $$
