Lung worm is a pain in the butt. There are alot of wormers that claim to treat it but some actually don't or have to be done in certain ways. If you do alot of research on it the sure way is with levamisole which they discontinued.

Can you treat a pregnant ewe with Levamisole? Lung worm sounds awful :(

I didn't hear her cough today at all, but I think she's mostly been coughing at night.

Thanks you guys for the suggestion, I wouldn't have thought of that.

I was talking injectable. I did know they had it in powder still. Wish they still made it in injectable. :he

As for pregnant? I think so. I've never heard anyone say you can't but I've never heard a yes or no answer so don't go giving anything yet. ;)

I won't gtive her anything til I'm sure it's safe for pregnancy, Straw, thanks! We also read Safeguard was good for lungworm and you can give to pregnant ewes. Is that effective?

Ok I do not want to get into any fights because some say it does but it doesn't. Really do your research. SafeGuard does not treat it. Ivermectin claims to treat it but I'm not sure if it does. I KNOW the Levamisole does treat Lungworm though. That's the only one that I can promise you treats it.

So you could try the SafeGuard. People say it does but after many hours of research between me and Southern we learned that it actually doesn't. Now this is in goats btu I'm sure it's the same for sheep. Don't see why it wouldn't.

Straw I trust what you say 100%. Tim, however, is more skeptical because the package says it treats lungworm. :smack Do fecals show lungworms? I should run a fecal to the vet to see if that's what we're dealing with.

Fights?? No fights here, just relating my thoughts. Bridge, I don't worm on a schedule. Here, on my sheep, the ivermectin worked.... Cough was completely gone within 48 hours. Again, I don't know if that's what you're dealing with, this was just my (limited) experience.

No they do not. It is SSSSOOOOOO SSSSSOOOOOO rare to find a lung worm, even when they have it in the feces. It doesn't go out that way. And you don't see eggs, but the worm itself and all worms look alike unless you have a 2grand scope to measure the worms.

There is a test for lung worm but you have to send it out and even the pros with the test say it is not 100% and it's still VERY hard to find them. It's also very expensive. You know how much I hate this but if you think it is lung worm better to just treat for it. Saves time and money.
