Yeah thats what I'm guessing. Hey did you get your goats in chico? I remember someone on here got there goats the same place I did.. They had lamanchas, nubians, and alpines..
I don't think they are ever going to reply at this point. All well!

And yes, I did get Heidi and Shasta in Chico. :) I was very pleasantly surprised when Heidi's registration papers came in. Do yours have an Alma De Luna herd name? It translates to moon soul in Spanish, which I though was really cool too. Next time I think I will buy from a smaller breeder though, so I really know what I'm getting. I love Heidi, but she has some pretty bad toeing out issues and sickle hocks going on. I wish she had more depth of body and a more arched escuchen too. I hope we can breed it out in her kids. I am SUPER excited to see what her udder looks likethough. Plus she has the sweetest personality and comes from good lines, so maybe her conformation will improve with time. We will see! :D

I got my lamancha there last spring but she's not rigistered. I get it about buying goats from a smaller place. My doeling was actually lactating when I got her.. They didn't notice and when I tried to call about it it was so hard to get ahold of them. I finally got a VM resonse asking if I "wanted to exchange the goat". No, she's part of my family now, I just wanted info or acknowledgment. Something telling me the goat would be fine it could be normal.. Nope, nothing.

I just picked up one of last years bucklings for $50. Umm weren't they selling them as bottle babies for $40?! I know a couple months ago they were up to $150. I got him for cheap cause she has 14 does due to kid and she needs space. I'm not in it for profit and they're just pets to me so I dont mind taking in goats that need extra and aren't up to par on standards. Eventually I'll get some nice, registered stock, but for now I'm good where I'm at.

Wow, that's weird. I have heard of doelings who are born lactating due to their mom's hormones, but she really should have helped you out more. Thankfully Shasta and Heidi were as normal as any goat can be! :p We are just getting into goats too, but I quickly developed a bit of an obsession. Haha

I have to say that Heidi does have a lot of spring of rib, she's very feminine, and she has nice supple dairy skin and nice teat placement at this point. She was too small to breed this year though, she is no easy keeper and just seems naturally thin no matter what we try!

That's a really good deal on that buckling though! Shasta was $75 at 2 weeks, and he is just a wether. Overall, I like his conformation, aside from him being a bit posty legged in the back. Other than that, I really wish I could see his pedigree. Not breeding quality, but he sure has a winning personality! I saw your bucks hooves on the other thread, but after that he should be good as new! What a deal for sure!
