Dang it! Two of my does turned out to be bucks.

I have been feeding these things every day thinking of how awesome its gonna be when they are finally ready to breed. Well today I noticed one of my chickens layed an egg under my rabbits cages. While I was down there getting the egg, for some strange reason I thought to myself "I wonder what these does look like from underneath". I look up and see a set of testicles looking back at me! After I got up I checked my other does and found that one more of them is a buck too! So now I have three does and four bucks. Looks like I get to have rabbit stew way sooner than I thought.

well it's a good thing you didn't try to breed them yet, 1 buck + 1 buck = 1 big fight.

I'm coming to think there really is a sex-change fairy. I've never heard so many stories of does turning into bucks, or bucks turning into does.

So sorry to hear about the "dropping nuggets". Glad your chicken laid an egg under the crate and you got a gander from looking up. Or you would probably still think you had does. Rabbit stew does sound good. And very careful selection of two new does.

This has happened to me four times since August! I still don't have great skills at sexing the really little rabbits but now I know to check for the two little bald spots on either side because that's good indication there will be testicles. Sometimes--like with my Dwarf Hotot--there are no bald spots just one morning your future brood doe drops testicles. I have three DH bucks to one doe and five LionHead bucks to two does. It's madness!

I told my husband, who was HORRIBLE at sexing kits, to just look for tacos and doughnuts. When you gently expose the female parts, there is a line all the way down like a taco. When the male parts are exposed on young kits, there is a little depression in the center so the top resembles a doughnut. It is easier to explain when I have examples to show...
