as i am sure you can guess i just caught my 3 boys w/ the girls.. they were grazing in the other field away fro them and i dont think they could have been out more then an hour. Non of my girl were acting in season but do you think i should lute all non bred does in 2 weeks? i have 3 yearlings and 5 does that have babies from 1 month to 2 months old. the 3 bucks were in another field together and the girls were all napping!

Wow!! That's a great question!! I have a 3 mo. old buck running with my other goats. Could he impregnate a doe at this age??

At what age can a doe get preggers??

doelings can concieve as early as 8weeks old... same age that boys can and will do their best to impregnate.

I guess thats depends on how badly you don't want them bred. I have that happen a couple times and i just right the date on the calendar, doesn't really bothe me if one gets accidently bred, If they were accidently in bred, I just sell the offspring to the meat market, since we have meat goats. they only time I would be real worried about it on my farm is if the doe was under 8 months old. I would really prefer them closer to 10 months to 12 months.

a good guess would be known of them got bred, based on your discription of the does not seeming interested, nothing going on, but no way to be 100% sure.

If I'm reading this right...you're concerned about the does who just gave birth 1-2 months ago having just got bred??

If that's the case...I really have no room to talk  I have a doe due later this month who was bred 2 1/2 months after giving birth. Because she was in strong condition, healthy and I felt she could handle it then I let the pregnancy go. If I had felt she was not up to the challenge, I would have luted her.

I guess what I'm saying is that it's your call. If you're overly concerned, lute. If they aren't up to it, lute. If you think they can handle it, then leave it be.

Best of luck to you.
