I switched my nursing doe from Manna Pro to Manna Gro a couple of days ago, and started giving her a tablespoon of Calf Manna. Today I noticed that she has loose stool on her back end. Her tray showed no signs of diarrhea, and her stool looked normal, but she did have loose stool on her. Could it be the extra protein I'm giving her? I've been giving her a leaf of Bok Choy, and a little kale every night as a treat, along with a small carrot. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Tonight I took my doe with the diarrhea out to inspect her closer. She has a brown, very foul smelling discharge all over her back end, and on each sides of her genital area there are two patches of skin with no hair. Would that be her glands? Her genitals were very red and looked swollen, but I didn't see any scabs or pus. Would anyone have a clue as what might be going on. I looked at the genital area of another of my rabbits (I'm really new at all of this) to compare, and didn't see the large bare spots on each side of her genitals. Could someone please give me some info on what I'm seeing here?

Yep, scent glands. They only show if they're swollen, they have something caught in them, you push the skin next to them just right, or that sort of thing.

If the health change really did happen at the same time as the food change, I'd switch back ASAP. Nothing you listed would cause diarrhea that I know of, but I suppose rabbits can have allergies to strange things just like humans can. It's my only guess. Maybe someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

After checking online about swollen scent glands, I really do think that is my problem! That would explain the really foul smell coming from her too. Thanks!
