This was our first time disbudding. We got a good copper ring on the blond doeling but did not burn the little buds off or do the x in the middle of the buds when we were done. When the scabs fell off it now looks like she has two little pink buds, not getting any bigger. The little doeling on the left was done a week later than the other because she was so tiny and by that time we realized we had not done a good job on the first one and did better I think. This has got to be one of the worst and most stressful things about having goats. So did we really mess up? Will these little pink buds grow into horns or scurs?

OK, that's definitely not what I wanted to hear. Maybe I will pay somebody to do it, I don't think I could do it to her again.

Maybe your vet could put her under anesthesia for it? I take mine to work with me and put them under gas anesthesia while I disbud and tattoo them.

I would do it again and actually you will have to do it longer then the first time. You probably dont want to leave them as is and risk scurs that grow back into their heads. Thats way worse then burning again.

She needs to be done again. :( I did a pretty bad job on my first one too, I learned how to do it this year on my doeling, and I did the other extreme, burned too much, pretty much right to the bone, and she had big scabs that fell off and got bloody and gross. I'm not looking forward to trying anymore, I don't even like doing it anyway.
