The mature, heavy silver fox does. Lol. Minus Grumpy...I'll get updated pics of her on her cull day in 6-7wks.

11 is shedding up a storm!
45 refused to pose.

Now that I've made two huge feeders, I thought trying out the water nipples was the next thing to do!
Waiting on a few packages to arrive today to set up the automatic watering system.
I'm hoping it doesn't drip as bad as the bottles do. Might switch the cages to the same system, if this works out well.

While waiting...

Got 4 in the freezer. Two from last week & 2 from the growout pen that just had to go.
Tried fleshing while fresh. One was easy. Rest impossible. Tried scraping, nope. IDK HTF others do it!
Grumpy stomped her kits while I was out there, so blocked the nest off & when I was done, moved the hole & kits further over. She's just getting worse. Was attacking the barrier.

And then the parts arrived.

So, it doesn't leak at the nipples when not in use. But pours while the argue with it. Maybe they'll learn to chill.

Very cool system with the water. Maybe they'll figure out drinking without having it pour out quite so much. What about the waterer spouts that have a bllberring (for lack of a better word) inside the drinking tube? Though guessing you've tried that or it brings other issues.

Add pressure and they leak. Happens every time I squish a bottle while installing it. :(

Fleshed the 2nd batch of 11 that were in the pickle today. Super easy, all were young. Bit too easy, as I ripped a bunch...ugh. Took roughly 8 minutes or less per hide.
Added more salt n alum, 5 days to dry n break em.
I hate rabbit nipnops, they always cause holes.

Speckle bit my arm today. She's out of ped SF11, so, keeping replacement(s) and culling her once kits are 6-7wks old.
Hideous shape, so was leaving eventually, but now going no matter what.
All of her kits are doing well so far.

Is it easier to do the pelts as a sleeve or opened? Would they work up the same?

Last time I did them was 6+ years ago. Back then, I cut them down the belly. But I don't remember if it was easier or not. In a tube, it's a bit annoying having to scrunch it all up to peel.
I left them in tubes bc I'm hoping to make a muff out of two of them. Find one big enough for hands inside, then a slightly larger one to go over that one. If that makes sense.

I have used nipple waterers connected to a 6 gal bucket for as long as I can remember. Enough head pressure from 6 gal to feed to 6 dif. nipples without running the line downhill, total hutch length, 13 ft. I also flesh all my hides while fresh, tricky to get started but the trick is to start by the tail.
