Hi, all! One of my 8-week doelings was diagnosed with coccidia and stongyles last week. We treated her immediately and she is acting like she feels much better. She is still having clumpy poops, though. Today I checked her tail area and she has a slightly yellowish/whitish discharge coming from her vulva. Anybody have any ideas on why? Could it be related to the parasite infection? I'm wondering it those yucky poops caused got some bacteria in her vagina and she has an infection. Or is this her first estrus cycle? o_O

Thanks in advance.

The discharge is most likely her first estrus cycle or might be urinary tract infection you might want to have your vet to take a sample and test it. Coccidia has nothing to do with the vulva.

More than likely her first heat. :)
Is she flagging her tail or crying? Some does will do this when they are in heat. Keep an eye on it but more than likely she is just in heat.

How much discharge are we talking? If it is just a bit of white/yellow around her vulva, it is heat. Keep her away from the boys ;)

I can't believe they can go into heat at 8 weeks of age!! (I mean, I do believe it but it's so early.) It was just a small amount- maybe a couple of drops. She hasn't shown any other signs (like the bleating or flagging tail).

Thanks! I'll keep an eye on her but I'm feeling relieved.

Had it happen before quite a few times. I would not recommend breeding her at this age can be very dangerous for the doe.
