UPDATE: I met with the Livestock Deputy about an hour ago. Thankfully the cows came by looking for more treats and I was able to keep them there until he got there... most of the cows and calves anyway. He agreed with us and said he would take care of it. I also made sure he knew there was 4 bales of hay on the property that the cows can see but cannot get to. he drove the length of the property they are on to check it all out. He took the owners information. Thank Ya'll for taking the time to read this post and comment. I appreciate you. I will let you know if I hear anything else about the cattle. Hopefully things will get better for them from here on out.

God Bless,
Melissa

Thank you for caring enough about them to do something about it. So many people don't care or can't "take the time" .... we are a bigger operation than many on here, but as a livestock owner, you are entrusted to do right by the animals since they cannot do for themselves. Those poor cows should have been sold a long time ago if they could not afford to feed them.
Yes circumstances can cause some TEMPORARY problems and such... but those animals did not get in that bad of shape in a months time....

Another Update: I saw the owner of the cows loading them up in a trailer this afternoon. Some of them were still hanging around last I saw, but it looks like most are gone. I am assuming he is moving them. We will see. Hopefully if he is moving them it will be somewhere that he can keep an eye on them and feed them. At first I worried that he may stop by my house and then as I thought more about it... I did him a favor because if those cows died he would be in a hell of a lot more trouble than he is now that is for sure. Too bad he is moving because now I cannot keep an eye on them. I don't know what Livestock Deputies do exactly but hopefully he will follow this through and make sure the cows do get better even though he might moven them.

That is what I was thinking too. If it were me, I would be happy someone cared enough about my animals to do something. If I could afford it would have tried to just buy them from him. But my goats and chickens is all I can do. I love farm animals. No animal should suffer at the hands of humans.
