Was in the pasture last night feeding the steers corn on the cob and the one kept licking me and the other kept rubbing against me as if to get his scent on me is this normal? My husband calls it my animal magnitude because where ever I go the barn cats, dog, pigs, or even the chickens are close by.

Yes, they will do that. I wouldn't let the one rub on you though. They can get carried away and you may end up hurt. It sounds like they are big babies. :D

He almost did but got away fast enough. These our first cattle and we are just learning do's and don'ts. They seem to be like big puppies.

I'm glad you got away in time. Just don't let him rub on you. As babied as he sounds a swat to the nose will probably do the trick but, if not carry a stick/club until he learns not to.

never make pets out of livestock.because if you do youll most likely get hurt by a gentle animal.you do not want to treat your cattle mean or rough.but you do want them to respect your space.when you put the feed out get out of their way as quick as you can.i wont let cows bulls or calves push on me.if the bull ever trys pushing on me an he is madd.he will go to the sale.
