I was taking pics today of my goats today and I noticed my 7 month old doeling had all of those symptoms. She's had the dandruff for a few months. I've treated everyone for lice and mites so I don't think it is parasite related. She has not been wormed but did have a fecal done on everyone a few months ago.Vet said not a serious worm load present. I have been pulling her out to feed her separate because she is low on the totem pole and a little was a little thinner. She has been getting a mixture of alfalfa pellets, grain, and beet pulp top dressed with mana pro goat treat and minerals. She has been receiving this for weeks and just noticed diarrhea and shivering today. No one else is exhibiting these symptoms. I think that about covers everything. I would like to know how I should proceed to treat. I wouldn't be concerned except for the shivering. That is very odd.

Temp is normal.

"Shivering" and dandruff lead me to think lice.

Pudding diarrhea could be stress, heat, hormonal, dietary or parasite or bacteria related. A note on the fecal done a few months ago....it means nothing when dealing with today's symptoms. It takes only a few days for a parasite bloom to occur, meaning you could be dealing with worms. Or not - have another fecal to be sure.

In the meantime you can treat the diarrhea with gelatin (Jello powder) mixed with enough water to liquify it and then drench. You may need to repeat in 6 hours or so to firm up the poo.

Also give probiotics, they can sometimes be enough to firm up diarrhea that is just loose consistency.

Since she is 7 months old and thinner than the rest, I would also run a fecal for coccidia. As it could cause the diarrhea too.

Thank you.

I would also pull all feed and give hay. Are you giving hay free choice throughout the day along with everything else?
That is alot of protein she is getting.
Elevan is right, a few months ago for a fecal doesn't mean she isn't having one now. I would have a fecal run tomorrow.
If cocci is in the herd already there is that chance but parasitic worms are always a possibility especially if she is thin.
Shivering can also be parasite load.

Be careful with upping all the feed... goat polio is something to be concerned about especially in young goats.
HAy, hay, hay.
