Is it normal for my doe to still have a bloody discharge after giving birth 12 days ago? It was her first kidding and she only had one. I had a vet out on Friday from Iowa State, but I don't think that he looked at her all that well. Maybe I'm just being a little over protective....

My experience is limited but I have not heard of this. I would think something is amiss. Oops. Just noticed this is a goat. I thought we were talking about rabbits. My experience just went from limited to nonexistent. Sorry

It's not unusual to have a bloody discharge for a couple of weeks.
I visited my boer breeder last week and I noticed some of the mama still have some bloody discharge and breeder said they'll have it for couple weeks. Just keep an eye on it.

Thank you so much!! I feel better now. All the vet told me was to watch her. Didn't tell me for how long or anything like that. I hope to have pics up soon.

Great question! I had a doe give birth 5 days ago and saw a little blood today. Got worried since I didn't do much reading about after they give birth! Thanks for the reassurance.

Perfectly normal. They can have some discharge up to 2 or more weeks. Not to worry unless it is a lot of blood and doesn't stop.

Ditto

Unless it is:

1. getting worse
2. smells bad
3. the doe is acting sick
4. turns an awful green or looks like pus

It is just perfectly fine...
