I JUST bought my first Nigerian Dwarf goats. I have only had them for 3 days...

The herd I got them from tested negative for CAE antibodies in 2009.

They were both dam raised and I was able to inspect both parents and the rest of the herd on site.

Twice I have seen one of the bucks do this squatting thing, almost like a dog when it poops....but nothing was expelled... There was one diarrhea on the first day, I figured it was the stress of being transported and put into a new environment. All other BMs and other signs of good health have checked out.

Does anyone have suggestions?

I think it is stress but keep your eye on him. If suspect CAE then have him tested to be sure. Bucks do weird things when in new places, he will settle down when he knows the routine.

Thank you, I will take him along when I take his brother to have his missing horn burned again, and have them test then if I can.

How old are they? Are you sure he wasn't, um, feeling good about himself? (if you know what I mean )

They are about 3 months old...I suppose he could have been...? These are my first bucklings so I only have an idea of what to expect from what I have read.
