I have went through 3 nylon 30cc drench syringes from tractor supply. They keep cracking where the feeding nozzle goes in.

Why does this keep happening and is there a beter one?

I'm on #2 so far.. Clear tube, yellow plastic cap and plunger handle.. Made by Neogen/Ideal. Best I can tell, they crack because they're garbage. Instead of buying another new one when this one cracked, I:

A) Took the dosing nozzle off
B) smeared superglue all over the outside around the cracks
C) pushed the plunger down almost to the bottom
D) took a square of wax paper and pressed it against the threaded hole to seal it up
E) pulled out on the plunger to create a vacuum and draw the glue into the cracks

Had to get the wax paper off there pretty quick as the glue was starting to soak in, but then I just kinda left it sitting to dry. It's holding pretty well so far.. Still not 100%, but much better than it was.

FWIW, I dunno if there's anything better out there.. If there is, I haven't seen it.

Ok thanks I may have to try that cause I'm getting tired of having to buy these things..

I was wondering if the feeding nozzle would fit on a pistol type syringe..Does anybody know if this will work?

No idea..

I do know that it won't fit a 'flavor injector' syringe, even though the cylinder, plunger, handle -- the whole shebang -- looks identical to a drench syringe.

How do I know? Because I saw one on clearance for $4 at a grocery store and bought it, thinking it would be a cheap replacement for my junky Ideal drench syringe...all I'd have to do is replace the needle with the nozzle from the drench syringe and voila!

Nope.

The diameter of the screw-in parts of the needle and the nozzle were the same, the embedded nut looked the same, but the fricken thread pattern was different.. One was fine, the other was course.

I have a flavor injector now, though... :gig :hu

On the other hand, it has a luer lock fitting on the top and for about 4 bucks you can order a feeding nozzle tip with a luer lock fitting from Nasco that fits right on the top of that cheap little flavor injector. I know, cause I bought one and was surprised to see that it works just fine.

right here

I just bought a feeding nozzle tip and use regular luer lock syringes. :/ Works for me and my little herd.

I use a drench nozzle that has a luer lock end. That way I can put it onto a regular luer lock syringe and toss the syringe when it is beat up.
