Hi my female alpine dairy goat is due any day. I do not have a due date for her. Her utter has grown, but not tight/shiny like I've heard described. Her ligaments have been gone. Her sides are sunken, hips very prominent. She displays signs of being ready to kid off and on. She has me crazy! Last night I thought she might be having beginning contractions, but apparently false alarm because no baby yet. Yesterday she didn't eat. Today I find that she has apparently thrown up all the corn she had days past. She still isn't eating, but corn is everywhere in her pin. Is it normal for her to purge her stomach like that?

Wow! I've not had any of my does do that... and I hope some of the BYHers with more experience chime in soon. I wonder if she has managed to eat something she ought not eat?

Keep in mind pictures of pregnant does and cute babies (aren't they all cute?) are greatly appreciated.

Keep us posted on your Alpine, please and thank you.

Ok the word from another forum was possibly grain overload. I contacted a local goat person and we are figuring it out. She is eating today, just hay and other stuff she can find in the yard. Still drinking, doesnt appear bloated or in any pain. I think if she had eaten too much she helped her self by throwing it up. And when I say throw it up I mean its like how they regurge to rechew stuff but she just spit it out. Think she will be ok, Ill update later!

My goat people believe she got into something "toxic" so they had me give her an 8oz bottle of pepto. she got better right away! Her utter has been enlarging quickly and I really hope she kids before I leave this week. Here are some utter pix. (6-1-14)

The last picture looks like she's waiting at the door for someone to let her in! She is a beautiful doe! If this is her first kidding her udder is certainly getting ready, as it's enlarged nicely. Sounds like you figured out pretty quickly what was happening with her and took care of it. Good going. Keep us updated on her progress!

She was wanting to go inside! I raised her in the house so she still wants to go inside. It is her first kidding, so im hoping that everything goes smoothly especially if im not here when it happens.

Just as an fyi I don't think she is a solid Alpine, her ears are longer and droopy and Alpine's ears are erect, standing straight up. Thinking she is crossed with a nubian or at least 1/4 nubian.
