Cloudy and will be this way off and on all day. Possible showers later. 65 was the low overnight. There were some showers around last night but mostly went around us also like @Mini Horses . After today it is supposed to clear off some and be nice for several days.

Meters and hoses in the car, bottles in the rack for testing this afternoon. Vet is supposed to be at the barn around noon or shortly thereafter... have 27 cows in the field to come in. I will go up and put feed in the bunk for them so they can just come in when called. Should only take an hour at most. I think there are 1 or 2 that have small calves so won't need to do them....
My nurse cow is in this group... she was open after the last calves were sold, and she got another chance... sure hope she has settled. If not, then she will get shipped. She is getting some age but I think she will be bred since she has had a total break from not having any calves on her for a bit.

Yesterday it got real dark and I went out and got the clothes off the line and then it blew over.. A little bit later we got a 2 minute shower so I was glad they were already in. The sun had come out and breeze blew and they were good and dry.

Got a call from friends in CT that were coming down on July 4th.... they are not going to come due to the father/husband having been quite sick recently and not fully recovered. Seems he got a fever, sick, somewhat disoriented... DRs kept saying it was just a virus, and his age with the disoriented stuff... mid 80's... BUT... he walks 2 miles a day, is normally pretty sharp.... and the fever and all were troubling... wound up in emergency room and finally a dr listened and did a bunch of blood tests and all....it seems it is a tick borne illness... not LYME's .... might be anaplasmosis or eiricholosis or something like that.... but he has been pretty sick. Still has bouts of forgetfulness and unsteady on his feet.... and moods are very volatile.... not like him...
Normally he would stay home alone, he does not travel with wife and her daughter and husband.... but he can't stay alone safely at this time. They are pretty upset over the whole situation..... Mom went to 4-H with my mom, and i have been pretty close to them forever... the daughter had a disease hit her and has very compromised eyesight now, but she babysat for Michael as a baby since I lived 15-20 minutes from them.... and her husband just retired and so they go places together and take her mom. Used to be mother and daughter would come down but since the daughter can no longer drive, it has worked out great that her husband has now retired and likes to go places especially when they go to "train things" and we have alot of train excursions here in Va and WV on steam trains and such.

So, going to get things going here, and go to the barn and see about calling the cows over into the smaller field to go in the barn. We don't need the calves right now so if the cows come to call that will be good. Have things set up for DS to get off work to come and do vet, then he will have to go back to work.... I will be able to make a list and he can move some around later after he gets off work, especially if we get any showers and he can't do some other things at the farm. Tomorrow I expect he will be getting back into the hay field.
Hoping for another good vet preg check...

Got home at 1 this morning from testing the farm... said to be there to milk at 6 so got there about 5:15 to set up.... didn't start milking until 6:45..... done milking at 9.45 and the wash system takes forever.... left there at 11:30 p.m. UGH.....

Just getting my brain in gear...

Checked in as I was interested how @canesisters made out with the dog and was SOOOOO glad to see that Birdie had done so good.... then crashed into bed....

DS just called and seems he mowed some and so I will be tedding this afternoon after the tire gets fixed and he puts it back on..... I was so tired I never even noticed he had mowed here at my house also....I was focused on driving and getting home and just parking and coming in the house.... SAFELY ......
They are calling for some possibility of showers on Friday afternoon.....so will tedd today and rake tomorrow so it can dry more... although it was pretty dried out on top.....

Got a farm scheduled for Friday afternoon this week, one next Friday 7th... and another that wants to test one day next week also. They were going to check their schedule when I talked to them, and we said we would talk today sometime.

Need to eat and get a few things done and the samples from last night packed to go out.....

Just had a very good supper of liver and onions... I really do like it and of course it is "our own liver" ....

Didn't tedd hay although he did get the tire fixed. I just went and raked after he said to go look at it... it is mostly pretty dry and no sense in tedding when raking and getting what little green is there, turned up. Got 3 small lots raked, the little acre or so at my house, and 1/2 or a little more at the one big field in the subdivision. He didn't cut the other 2 fields we make there because of the forecast of rain Friday afternoon.
I will finish the big field at the subdivision after the dew dries off it... it was getting a little damp this evening as our humidity levels are up... but actually they are more like normal for us... It will have all day to dry tomorrow... and I expect he will probably bale some of the smaller fields tomorrow aft/eve.

Guy that wanted the pasture for the heifers decided he was going to get them in and so they "had to be moved" this afternoon. So, DS went over and went around the fence, and then went and moved the heifers for them...supposed to be "subleasing it from us"... Then DS went and got our bull out of the "crep" area between us and that neighbor where the bulls got over in with his cows a few weeks ago... put the one bull in this crep area since he was at the gate, thinking he would go back through the bad area of the fence and go back with the cows, but he didn't and he just stayed in there eating... he caught up "his bull" and then realized it was our bull not his bull, so brought it back to us about a week later... his bull isn not easy to catch... but most all ours will come to a bucket to go on the trailer 99% of the time...
ANYWAY she (owner of this place) refuses to share the cost of the BOUNDARY fence, since she fenced off this "crep" area... or riparian area... there is a small creek that runs through there and she got gov't money to fence it off... so now bi@#Hes and complains about when our cattle have gotten in there... but also refuses to maintain the boundary fence since she has this "good fence" to keep the cattle on her property, in... She is a witch of the highest order... we used to make hay on her place when she couldn't find anyone... then she got into this "partnership deal" with this other guy and he runs cattle on there and makes hay... Better him than us... it was close to make the hay and we fertilized it so made some decent hay... but she raised cain about every little thing and this wasn't done soon enough, and the extra bush hogging we used to do around the edges and the rocky areas wasn't done soon enough and on and on.... we really weren't sorry when we lost it....

So the bull is out and DS took him to another place where they lease a bull from us every year... I would have taken a different one, but this one was already on the trailer, so not that big a deal...

Preg check went real well... no opens, 3 or 4 were short bred 75 days or so... but they had only been in with the bulls over there for about 3 months so not far off... a couple are getting some age on them, yet they all were pregnant. And 801, my nurse cow is also bred... right in that 4-5 month time frame... so will be calving in Oct-Nov???? I will be putting calves on her... and I might just get DS to take her to the nurse cow pasture now so she will be there at the barn and I can start getting her to come in when she is getting closer... Got another old cow or 2 that could go there too...
There is a bull in there now with the 1/2 dozen heifers, my longhorn and a few odd cows getting bred back, so it won't matter to put in a few that are confirmed pregnant... It is way under stocked... Easier to take her there now since she is going to be moved "somewhere" , rather than have to do it with a new calf out to pasture somewhere and DS not "having the time" to go get her right now...
I will get the clipboard from the barn as DS had thought to maybe move some yesterday, ... but then this came up with him mowing some hay.... and then today getting those heifers moved.... and bull getting moved this afternoon... and before he decides to move anyone... I will make a list of the couple I think should go to the nurse cow pasture... and then he can move some others around... will take the couple of short bred ones out to the big pasture with the ones with new calves, that getting bred back now, since they will not be very far ahead of them and that group won't come home until Christmas... trying to get the ones together that are due the same time and get things better organized...

Got all the ends/parts for the soaker hoses in the mail so if I can remember tomorrow morning, I will take the tape measure out and see how long the pieces are that were "fixed/repaired" and get a general length so I can make a few more... and fix the couple of pieces of the "old type" soaker hoses I have here....
I never did get them measured as we were due to get that rain last week, and I haven't used them since... thankful for that. Then at least I can have a uniform length and be able to make my rows that length in any future gardens and be able to easily set them up to water... plus they can get screwed together to make longer hoses if I need them...

The air and sky have been VERY hazy... like having smoke without the smell.... all from those fires in Canada still... our air quality is not good, they are advising anyone with breathing difficulties to not spend any time outdoors... it is very very hazy out there... looks just like when we had a fire a few years ago and the smoke hung around for 2 days... except there is no smoke smell.... It has kept the temps down a bit... only got down to 70 last night.... up to 84 today because the sun was not out there bright...has dropped to 64 now so comfortable... tomorrow maybe a little warmer.

Going to try to get more mowing here at the house done tomorrow... batteries are charged up.... maybe get a little more mulch down in the thin spots. I need to take the small weed eater and do on both sides of the netting... move it a bit as the posts actually got loose when we had all that rain and I have had to push them in a bit... so it will be easier to do around the outside then move it all out a bit, and do the inside better...
Plants are looking much better that it is warming up some. Need to get more mulch down around the squash and stuff before they start to spread out.

I'm tired and am quitting for the night.

Are you sure that the bad air isn't from all those New York pizza ovens that Adler wants to shut down? According to him the pizza ovens produce as much smoke as the Canadian fires! LOL

Thursday. Down to 68 and already up to 80 at 1 p.m.. Hazy again... this is really a turn around from the clear cooler, crisp air we had 2 weeks ago. More humidity granted... but it is just so hazy to look out across the fields and all.
Let chickens out, another small possum in the trap. Took care of it. Walked through the garden a little... cannot believe how fast the plants are growing since nights have warmed up.... I would like to get the small patch weeded and plant some more green beans.. I laughed at @SageHill (I think it was her) that said she was over whelmed with green beans and was looking for more recipes.... I cannot ever remember getting tired of green beans... my favorite veg I think.
Went up to the field about 10 and raked the rest of the hay.... it is dry except for some weedy spots... he will be able to bale it all this afternoon and it will be off the ground before the forecast rain and possible severe storms Fri and Sat.

It is a little too humid for me to try mowing right now. I cannot take the humid heat temps... NOPE, could not survive in the TX heat and humidity.
I did water all the petunias and the flower pots.... I have not watered the spider plants and house plants hanging under the tree...they look pretty good so might leave them to see if we get the rain. The flower pots are out in the sun and dry out faster than the ones under the tree.

I made it a point of looking at the fruit trees next door to DS's house, that he didn't get moved for me last year.... and there are NO PEACHES on the trees. I didn't see any pears but did not get as close to them; it was one of the small fields I was raking hay yesterday. I have lost one peach tree here that we transplanted... it was the worst of the 3 as far as not a good root system, and the tree did not have a good main trunk... BUT.... there are peaches on one of the other 2.... Now that DS mowed the hay in the lot, I will take the walk behind weed eater and get the high grass near the trees cut down, and be able to mow around them better. Might try the "baling string" fence around the 2 live trees and see if I can save the peaches.... FOR ME.... I will ask the lady that has the pear tree that is covered with pears growing, if I can get pears this year... she doesn't do anything with them anymore. The "orchard" was her husband's thing and he has passed away.... a couple of trees have died or have broken main branches. I LOVE pears, so hope to can a bunch this year. I think that fruit will be harder to come by and be more expensive in this area....

I have a headache, woke up with it... not head splitting but very achey.... not fun.... going to take a couple tylenol or something, see if I can tone it down. Ate some lunch and need to wash dishes .....in a bit.

A ** hole stupid idiots in NY.... yesterday it was said it would take 840 years, or something, for the pizza ovens to produce as much pollution as Al Gore's private jet does in 1 YEAR......There is absolutely NO common sense in any of this.... but then, I don't think most of them have 2 brain cells to rub together and so they cannot come up with any common sense between all of them...
