Back from the dr appt for DS. We stopped and had lunch on the way home...
This test showed that he has little to no nerve damage, so the numbness and all is caused from the head injury, and I suspect they are not getting the alignment with the spine quite right . Supposedly he has narrowing in the channel where the spinal cord comes down out of the brain and it is has pressure on it so the headaches and then the lack of full "signals" getting sent down through it... to the arms and legs... so the numbness...

I got back to the house, and got the last load of laundry done and on the line. Going back out to do some more peaches. Been sorting and getting the crappy ones gone through and salvage what I can. Have some stuff to take out into the garden to dump, and will come in and get some more cut and diced up, I think for some jars of pieces. Might cut up some of the pears also since there are a few that look to be ripening too. Like my own fruit cocktail.... sans cherries.

The others are cooking down, slowly since they were not overly ripe to start with.

I used to make apple and peach and pear butters when I had access to trees with the fruit. Need to go check a big pear tree at one place we cut hay, she always tells me to get what I want... some years it doesn't produce but other years, it is loaded. It looked to be loaded earlier when we made hay in there. It is a later variety I think.

Going to walk through the garden too and see what's what... beans ought to be getting close to picking. Never got more than a handful off the ones the deer/groundhogs, ate early... Need to see if the broccoli came up...

Potatoes are blooming so making some potatoes. Much later than @Mini Horses ....
The sunflowers are blooming all over the place... have to take a few pictures as they didn't get eaten off like last year that the D@#%ed groundhog was stripping them; before I got the netting up.

Nice out... 49 for a low, and hit 76 today... sun, no humidity...

Friday evening. Been a long enough day.

Left at 7 to get DS and go to hospital to get arthroscopic on knee. It went well, dr said it was not any problem other than the torn meniscus, and it cleaned up well. He expects him to have full and good use. Finally left there about 12:30-1... DS was starving so went to McD's right near there, and came on home.
Boy have things changed... 3 days no weight/ use of crutches... then 20 % of his weight on it using the crutches.. he is to move and bend it, gently at first, and NOT let it get stiff and out of shape from lack of bending... Followup in 2 weeks. No shower for 2 days, and no "bath" water type for at least a week to 2 weeks, stitches need not be in soaking water... they need to be healed, but it is 2 very small tiny incisions...

It is very sore, and hurts some, but he is using tylenol and ibuprofen... got a prescrip for oxy for 2 days... said he might take one to sleep a night or 2 so he can get some good rest.... but he is not big on much drug taking...

So later this afternoon/eve, had to get up the heifers from out back, the one with the bad pinkeye that we have not been able to cure... and a couple more that looked a little "weepy" and one had some white looking film... treated 4 and there were 3 I could not get in... Will try them again on Sunday morning.. the one young guy that comes to help some said he could come Sunday morning... Another friend came this afternoon to help and it went smooth as I had them all in the barn for him but the couple that ran back into the field on me... One is a total NUT CASE IDIOT.... she puts her head up like a stallion scenting the wind out in the wild... and RUNS.... Tea totally nuts.....took a couple others with her... I kept the 4; that we worked through the chute, 2 that we just saw possible runny eyes and squirted Today in the eyes, the one with an eye looking to develop into a full case in one eye, and the one that is about blind...kept them in the lot and let into the front field there so they should be easier to get in again... and I will see about getting the others back in on Sunday morning... and make sure there are none that I missed... there is one that might have a runny eye so want to go through them again to check... Have a list of all that went through the chute and whether or not they got treated or just fly sprayed...

Then just stood around chewing the fat for a bit because the one guy, that helped me and is a "cow person", Randall, had not been there at the barn since we put the silage "pit" in a couple years ago and had not seen all the concrete blocks and everything... and Ryan came after he got off work, and then he went up to see DS for a few minutes. He is coming back to help me on Sunday morning... and we will go out and put out some mineral and see about feeding some grain and fly spraying the cows again. I have to take some mineral and a salt block up to the nurse cow pasture and keep feeding the calves in the pen so they will come in when DS is up to banding them.... Need to take mineral to several places... so I will have help with that on Sunday...

Did not get home in time to get the clothes off the line like I planned... so once the sun is up tomorrow and all dew dried off, I will get them in.

Hope to get the peach butter finished tomorrow... reheated and add any spices I need to add.... and get it into some jars and canned... There are a bunch of peaches coming more ripe now... so will be doing some slices and chunks next. Some of the unripe ones that were getting rotten spots just seemed to "rot" over night and I am not going to lose sleep over them... just dump them and go on. Supposedly there are going to be a bunch more for me to get here soon... she is having her knee replacement on Tuesday, and said she will not be doing anymore...

Planted a bunch of straightneck summer squash seeds. Of course I rolled most of the hoses and will need to water down the area I planted them... and will water the rows of lettuce and broccoli and see if that gets them to sprout better... If not, then will try some other seeds, in a few days.

The yellow and green beans plants are close to flowering... so ought to have some beans to pick in a week or so.... There are at least 20 butternut squashes and probably 15 or more of the striped crenshaws and they are big.... the chilly temps slowed the plants down a little, but they are still spreading...

Have that farm that wanted to go on test and been farting around for 6 months... finally call and say they wanted to get started testing... that is the one I have to do the first time myself, and then they will be able to get it transferred over onto their computer... and do owner sampling... all I will have to do is take them meters and bottles, and then do what paperwork I need to , pick things up and pack samples and send out. Counts as another herd, and will get mileage and some pay... worth it only because they are right up the road from the farm I get my milk from... Got them scheduled for next Tuesday since I have to be there for the whole thing and have to get 100+/- cows entered into the computer and started.... I will go there about noon time, and get it done before milking so all I have to deal with are the milk weight entries after milking.

Am so behind on weed eating around the house and things need mowing again... :th :th :he:he:he

Okay, I am ready for a shower and go to bed early....

Weed eating, I would just tie a cow up where you need it mowed down.

When I was milking for the house, I had a couple of cows that would tie out on a rope tether...attached to their halters, and I used to do that. None here now that I can tie out.... and since it is weed eating around the edges of the flower gardens and such, don't want a cow too close... but I agree on the idea. Always said if it is big enough to need a riding mower, it needs something to graze it instead... but I would like to preserve my irises and peonies and flowers around the porch.... things like that...
The beef cows.....weeeeellllll.... might be like what @Baymule suggested...    :gig:gig:gig
