Oh no, your nurse cow! I’m so sorry, that hit you like a punch in the gut. She has been a good momma, raised calves for you and more than earned her keep. That hurts and the &1000 loss hurts too.

Do you know anyone with sheep or goats and a pack of LGDs? The pragmatic farmer in me sees a waste of a lot of meat. If someone offered me a drop dead cow, I’d take it for dog food. If you were a Pet Princess bawling your heart out, I probably wouldn’t bring it up, but you take reality by the horns, so it’s something to consider. Just thought I’d throw that out there.

She was stiff and bloated some this morning... not a good idea for food...she must have died sometime early yesterday afternoon... There is a zoo that friends' own 45 min south of here, and a fresh dead can go there. Too much BS if someone wants to make a big deal here...just have to take her to the landfill, it's still free to take them there for county residents. Trying to not put them out back due to the coyotes... Yeah, I see wasted food too.
DS said he would be able to get home around 5:30 to change his pants as he got dirty feeding the silage... and I could come to the house, and go to the dinner. So I got there and he said he was sorry, he just didn't feel like going...that things just are so screwed up and that after all they have done together and been through that it was just wrong for her to be this way... and I said Okay... and came on home. Didn't want to go by myself. I had things I could do here, but thought it might be good to go, since we have done it in the past. He calls as I get in the driveway and says, do they have it to go, and I said I guess so... and would I mind bringing it back... and I said I wasn't going to go, so I didn't guess I would be bringing it back... he said oh...
So I came in and was working in the kitchen, and I heard the phone but by the time I got my hands out of the sink full of dishes, it stopped ringing... I saw it was him, but I didn't call back. Not going to keep this up. Get a set and end this BS... the bi@#% only wants to be "friends" and you are going to have to accept it and go in another direction or spend the rest of your life being miserable... I cannot keep feeling bad for him... he'd be better off mourning her if she croaked after the gall badder surgery or something... I am sorry for him... she is a selfish self centered user... and will never commit to anything, and either accept it and be friends, or STOP all of this. The kids are his bigger achilles heel... especially the sister's little boy. I cannot help him with that because that gets him in contact with the sister... and so in contact with the family... I don't know the answer to that because the kids dote on him and he really does love those kids... her daughter and the sisters' 2 kids...

So, I peeled potatoes to cook tomorrow, for mashed potatoes, got a chicken out of the freezer to cook, brought in gr beans from the freezer too...... and that is about it. I will make a meal tomorrow, if he wants to eat fine, if not, I will have several meals out of it.

Made the rest of the shrimp and some sweet potato things to cook like french fries, for supper tonight. Finished dishes and some decorative glass jars out of a box got washed too for keeping something, like flour or something else on the counter...Been working on getting some things in the LR sorted out, put away, and then more papers to sort through is next.
I am going to get a shower, and sit and put a movie in the dvd, and work in the LR some more... Maybe even eat some ice cream tonight....

BUT it is turning out to be a real SH!T day. Went to the barn to feed cow and turn her out. She is dead... no idea or anything... just flat out dead in the barn.
OMG! I hate it when that happens. She was a real money maker for you, and good to train the others with, and so handy to have a nurse cow that would take orphans. I am so sorry about that. Big $$ loss too.
He is NOT going to her families T-day dinner tomorrow... things are not very good there again...
I just wish he would dump her. I think they (GF and GF sister) keep him stringing along for their kids.
he'd be better off mourning her if she croaked after the gall badder surgery or something...
I never wanted to say it, but I was kind of hoping . . . . I am a bad person I guess.

You're with me today -- I'm having your potatoes at dinner 🤣 thought about baking a chicken but didn't get to freezer 🙄 chicken beast & ham steak instead👍. Just a meal anyway...days of big tables full are over. Hope your DS gets to your meal.

In fact, I'm thinking I should consider volunteering as a server at a local free meal offer for next year.

Sun is coming up and it was down to 32 this morning. 50's today... ought to be a nice day.

Will go up in a little bit and see how the calves do with bottles this morning. Then I will move them over into the other side of the barn and close the door to the outside pen, so whenever DS decides to come up and get the cow out, they will not be in the way or acting stupid about getting moved over and "waste" his time. He has no patience with my nurse cows and calves anymore.

I will get the chicken stuffed here in a bit and then stick it in the oven. I did get a ham the other day that was marked down, don't know why because the date was "good" for a bit... but it will make a lot of meals and a good bone for split pea soup too. Not going to cook it today though, will wait for the chicken to get eaten first.

Heard on the news that many stores will be closed today.... so people can spend the holiday with their families... no big early sales to start. WOW.... guess I just don't pay alot of attention to that stuff since there is little I feel a life and death need to go out and spend time in lines to buy......

Didn't get anything done last night, got a shower, ate some ice cream and went to bed and read a little and that was it. Not in the mood.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Hope it is very UN-eventful here. Have had enough surprises for a good long while.

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving day. It was chilly to start, 32, was mostly sunny all day and got up to 64... quite comfortable. I worked outside a little, after doing the calves. Had to corner them but then they drank pretty good. DS will load the cow tomorrow morning and take to the landfill down near the farm he has down there... Tonight's feeding went pretty good, had to chase 801's black calf around but the holstein didn't fight me once I got ahold of him, and drank his bottle right down.

Tomorrow James will be here to do some more stuff, and DS wants to band/work the calves he got a week or so ago, and get them turned out with the others now that they are acclimated and used to coming in the barn and to a bunk for feed. I hope that James and I can get the shelter frame moved around after I get him to run the walk behind weed eater around in the area to clean it up. I will go up to feed the calves and then come back until DS calls to say he is ready to load the cow. He said he is going to go hunting for a bit because there is a neighbor that has been seen out on our farm hunting... no permission...and told no hunting since there are people that have permission to be out there.... had trouble with him last year, having a couple of people from his side over in the farm, and now one of the guys that hunts on us told DS that he has seen them over a couple times... hence DS going out there tomorrow morning.
Then I worked inside, in the LR going through some papers and folding clothes that have been sitting way too long... towels and such that I have not needed, so not pushed to get them folded and put away. Not near done yet, but making a dent.

Went with DS to a friend's house, around 6 pm for dinner, that used to show chickens, that's how we all met, and I used to farm sit for them years ago when they went to shows and needed someone to just keep an eye on the house and the dogs... feed the chickens they had; had someone else that did the horses...
Don't know if you ever came across them @Mini Horses ... Mayes Show Ponies... Paul Maye is from Wales I think,,, good looking guy, neat accent, his wife, Cheryl, used to ride competition hunt classes...teaches lessons, now older son rides hunt... jumpers and all,,, and their younger son is into driving also... Paul does all driving classes... small and large... Has been overseas for some competitions also... he travels and trains carriage animals.. Really good and travels alot showing clients animals...
It was a good supper, not too many people, and sat and talked with several others there...

Time to go to bed so I can get up and do calves, lock them on the other side of the barn so DS can get in with the truck later and not worry about the calves getting out loose on him... Plus be ready for James to come and get started on stuff that needs to be done.

I also chanced it and put a load of laundry in to soak yesterday... filled for a 1/2 load... got them agitated with the detergent and all to soak... then added hot water this morning to fill, and washed them... ran the wash cycle twice...same water.... then let them run through the rinse. Then tonight I did a 2nd rinse like I always do so make sure there is no soap in them.... and will hang tomorrow. Couple of partly cloudy / partly sunny days in the forecast, so will hang tomorrow. It's delicate fabrics so they will dry fast.

I am ready to go to bed.... Also, want to get the meters and hoses out of the car tomorrow since I will not need them for several days at least. Coming up time to do the 500 cow herd again... and have 2 more to contact.... Then next thing you know we will be into Dec already....
