Hi everyone! Well, I have a fat kid. She was fat when we bought her and it’s not getting any better...but I don’t know how to slim her down? She’s still nursing. I put pellets out for the rest...how do I keep her from eating them too... do I really need to be concerned while she is a kid..or is it kind of like a chubby baby? She is about three months old. I don’t think these pictures really show her girlish figure..I’ll try to get better ones tomorrow..

She is old enough to wean. Can you feel her ribs? Or do you feel alot of flesh?

A lot of flesh...but, I’m letting them wean natural...because of what I went through before with the others...so, how would I have to force her to wean..would I have to separate her mom?

Yes you would but you can make a small pen for her in the same area so she can still see them it's less traumatic for them and then you can also control the amount of feed she gets.

Ok, sooo..I separated Sugar this morning. Ugh times two!! She’s my most vocal goat so I knew this would be an issue, but I was ready for that again. But, Honey is fence nursing her!! o_O So, here are my options...put up new fencing....Chris will kill me...we have about 19 projects going on right now, so while the rest of the world is at home bored and over-eating, our lives are jammed packed because we are ramping up the farm. Next option...tie up Sugar on a long tie down inside the pen, so she can go in the barn but still go out... next...tie up Honey..but on the other side..same deal..so she can go in her barn... Next option...put her clear on the othe4 side of the farm, by the chickens...but also about 200 yards away from the road, and the fence is only about 4’ high...plus it would probably call the goats over with her noisy yelling...last option....we have a chicken tractor...chicken wire...it’s only 10’x 12’ but I have a friend with 2 goats in the same size pen..they ar3 truly unhappy. I could put her in their and move it daily for clean grass. But, if I put it near the goats so she doesn’t attract them to another part of the farm...I’m afraid they will tear up the wire. I can’t put just Honey in the pen, because clearly they will do the nursing thing through the fence. I can’t put all the goats in the pen because..the little ones fit through the cattle panel squares..plus, Honey will nurse through...back to square one...literally! ugh

So, you're doing all of this because you think your goat is too fat? I think she looks fine.
Oh, really?? Oh my goodness..that’s great!! I was asked if I could feel her ribs...and, really, I kinda can’t? She’s got a really big belly...but..,she is just a baby...so, she’ll grow out of that, right? So, I can let her free?! Oh yeahhhhh!! You guys are the best!!!
