First what breed is he? You can't feed a warmblood baby the same as say a Thoroughbred baby, well unless you want to kill it or have an unsound horse later down the road. A good place to start is with a Ration balancer, I feed everything young old, pony and horse Gro n Win, it's made to compliment pasture or hay and give all the required vitamins and minerals. I've seen babies, even fed the right way develop OCD and other problems. Ocd is not a death sectence but a minimum of a $3000 down the road. Your baby can easily form leasions if you are over feeding and supplementing. Your best bet is to find a reputable breeder of the breed your buy or contact your vet and discuss a feeding plan that is right for the breed and age of the horse. This will ensure you have a healthy horse later down the road when it comes time to start breaking him as well as keeping them sound later on
