What do you guys do with your fiber? I have this years fiber from my 2 alpacas and I don't know what I want to do with it yet. It would cost too much to send it to a mill to have it processed...and I don't know how to do that. We have a drop spindle but we can't get it right. I've done some needle felting...but I don't want to needle felt the ENTIRE fleece into little butterflies! :p
My mom's cousin's wife has a spinning wheel and she's offered to spin when she has time...but then I'm going to have yarn. I don't knit or anything.

Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks! :D

I have a llama.

I gave this years fleece to a friend who makes earmuffs. She uses the llama wool to stuff the ear caps. They are the warmest earmuffs I've ever come across.

Here's something I found regarding Spinning Guilds. Thanks ksalvagno for the suggestion. Never would have thought there were so many different guilds out there.

efinley: Wishing you all the luck finding out what to do with your alpacas wool. Please keep us posed if you should go to a spinning guild. This is something my DH is really considering lately. We are thinking sheep as well.

Is there an alpaca breeder or sheep breeder close to you that processes their own wool? What state are you in?

I make all kinds of felted crafts with my wool. you could also do a bit of studying and sell the raw wool on ebay.

I have a nice wallet I made out of felt from my Llama. I have also made Christmas ornaments, cell phone holders, and many other things.

I'm in NY...most farms around here seem to have the alpacas for showing not really interest in fiber :(

Well you can still ask those who just show couldn't you? Wouldn't hurt. Never know until to try. Just ask. Or contact the organization of Show Alpaca. They could help you.

Lots of ways to find out what you can do with the fiber for alpacas. Even go to your State.
