The best that could have happened under all the circumstances. It was her time.

Yes, I fully agree. Ever since she was a puppy, I have hoped that she would live to be 15 years old, and that when it was her time, she would go peacefully in her sleep. All of you who have dogs know how rare it is for us to get that wish. I am a very lucky dog mommy.

Actually, not completely lucky. Now I have a new dog problem. My 8.5 year old rough collie Clara has come down with Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis while she was at the kennel. Poor Sally! What she has had to deal with!

Got a voicemail from her as soon as my plane landed today. Had to take Clara from the boarding kennel straight to the vet. She’s on antibiotics and the same anti nausea medicine that Liesl was on. Hopefully she will get better soon. Apparently this is not something to take lightly. Basically it’s a problem of too much stress causing a disruption of the intestinal system. Could be from being at the kennel, although she is usually fine there. Sally thinks she was upset by Liesl passing. She had told me that Toby could care less but that Clara was taking it really hard. The vet said either one of those things could have caused it.

Hopefully it won’t be a too severe case.

Poor Clara. I know you are worried about her. She is getting the same care at the vet that she would get if you had stayed home. Vets don’t let dog parents stay in the clinic overnight.

You are blessed to have such a caring lady at the kennel that loves her pets as much as their owners do.

Sorry to be vague. We took Clara to the vet, and then we brought her home. Then I spent the rest of the evening cooking her some chicken breasts and rice, going to get her rx from the pharmacy and dealing with her draining rear end. That seemed to be stopping by midnight thank goodness. But this morning she ate half of the food I gave her and then threw it up. So I have to back up and get her started on food gradually. Vet said the meds need to be taken with food, and it can be as small as a piece of cheese. So I waited an hour and gave the anti nausea pills with cheese, and in another hour I’m going to do the same with the antibiotics. Keeping her crated to contain any messes for now until they seem to be over with. So then I also have to take her out for water breaks as well as potty breaks. I have not even had time to unpack from my trip yet.
